Becket Collection - Period Performance.

Lockey Hill Violin, 1790
The unusual thing about the instruments in the Becket Collection is that they are to be used in a group - as a chamber orchestra, in trios or quartets. They are seldom on loan to an individual who does not have the opportunity to do period ensemble playing.

Applicants must have the recommendation of a recognised teacher of historical performance and must demonstrate that they will be able to take full advantage of the loan of the instrument. Borrowers will pay a deposit and a monthly fee which covers the insurance premium.

During an extended loan, borrowers must bring the instruments to the curator every six months for inspection.
